An amateur video has been posted online of an experiment testing reactions to domestic abuse on the streets of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The video shows 18 year-old Arian Kashef pretending to verbally and physically abuse his girlfriend in public.

Kashef and his girlfriend staged the scenes to see whether or not passers-by would intervene.

Responses range from avoidance and seeming indifference to intervention and anger.

Kashef explains: "I once saw a couple fighting and nobody did anything. The man was threatening so I stopped and stared at him and then he walked away with his girlfriend, but nobody else stopped, they walked by like everything was normal. So we decided to make a experiment about it and see if this really is how our world is."
