A terrifying video has emerged from the United States of a many lying down with a large wild tarantula crawling on his face.

In the clip, which was filmed earlier this month, the man lies motionless as the giant arachnid pads about on his face.

According to the filmer, he caught the brown tarantula when he saw it crossing a road in Utah and decided to put it on his face as a dare.

Utah is on the northern border of the tarantula’s native range, but the spiders can be found especially when males leave their burrows to search for a mate.

I was driving up a canyon in Utah to get to my house when I see something crossing the road, I pull a U turn and get out of the car when to my surprise I find this magnificent tarantula. Now I hated spiders at this time but for some reason I had to catch this stunning arachnid!
The reason however I had the guts to put it on my face was a simple dare, I had put scorpions on my face so I knew this would be semi easy.
