Aurora Australis (southern lights) from New Zealand
A time lapse video taken recently from the Otago coastline north of Dunedin, on the 27/28th March 2017. Composed of just over 1000 images it covers the period from approx. 11.30pm - 4.50am NZST.
There are many beautiful substorm outbursts with rays, red fringing, twisting and turning curtains of green, as well as stunning reds, magentas, yellows and even blue making an appearance towards the end. One of the best auroral displays seen for many years.
