Footage has emerged of a trailer jackknifing the car towing it after the load got caught in a hedge in Yeovil last year.

"It was an incident waiting to happen and must have been obvious to the driver but was ignored," the filmer wrote online.

"The inevitable happened and the timber caught in the hedge, pulled the trailer and jackknifed the car."

"Very lucky that at the time there was nothing approaching," he added.

According to him, the accident resulted in the suspension being broken on the trailer and a slightly bent car.

A37 just SW of Yeovil, 28/06/2016 at around 2045. Followed a car towing a small trailer containing long pieces of timber, the trailer was 'fishtailing' and the load looked like it had moved. It was an incident waiting to happen and must have been obvious to the driver but was ignored. The inevitable happened and the timber caught in the hedge, pulled the trailer and jacknifed the car. Very lucky that at the time there was nothing approaching. Result: suspension broken on the trailer and a slightly bent car. The first vehicle approaching around the blind corner that had to slam on their brakes was a large lorry! Lucky chap.
