Bright blue electric arc travels on power line during hail storm
An impressive video has emerged of an electric arc travelling on a power line during a heavy hail storm in Ohio, USA.
The footage, shot in Dayton on June 5, shows a bright blue ball of light travelling between two transformers with a "surreal crackle and hum" according to the filmer.
According to reports, the arc is an ionisation of the air around a fault caused by lightning or debris on the power line which is looking for a path to ground.
"I was taking a quick video of a heavy hail storm when there was a crazy bright glow behind my neighbor's house," the filmer wrote online.
