TV crews come to rain-soaked Exeter
BBC News 24, ITV and the Environment Agency all choose the Mill on the Exe car park, Exeter, for their live broadcasts of this weeks UK floods. Exeter escaped any major problems thanks to the flood relief scheme. this was built as a result of severe flooding of the River Exe in 1960s in the St Thomas area.
The river, which has an unusually large drainage basin extending almost all the way to the North Devon coast, is particularly susceptible to flooding, though often, disconcertingly, up to a day after most other local rivers have flooded.
