Here's an amazing video from the Newsflare vaults of a chameleon having a live birth.

The footage from 2015 shows the moment the newborn reptile comes out of the mother surrounded by a sticky membrane before leaping onto a leaf nearby.

This rare phenomenon in the chameleons' world happens only to some species that are ovoviviparous, meaning that the babies grow inside the mother for a few months and are then born live.

This is a very rare video clip of a chameleon giving live birth. The species of chameleon is indigenous to the Western Cape of South Africa. She gave birth to 27 strong and healthy babies.
