This is the nerve-shredding moment that a German adventurer slacklined across one of the highest lakes in the world.

Alexander Schulz claims his walk over the volcanic glacier at the summit of Mount Sabalan in north-west Iran is the highest-ever elevated slackline over water.

Sabalan stands at 4,811 meters above sea level (MASL), which puts it higher than Mont Blanc, according to local media.

Schulz successfully walked 68 metres without falling, alongside three other members of his team.

Schulz says he and his team slept in tents in the crater of the volcano during their expedition.

"Besides being good for records, it gets more and more clear to me that volcanoes are the coolest places to slackline. I definitely enjoyed those intense two days that we spent at this one," Schulz said.

Alexander Schulz from One Inch Dreams (who is known for various slackline stunts across the globe, e.g. The slackline walk to the "Old Man of Hoy" in Scotland, see our other Newsflare videos) joined an Iranian team on their expedition to the lake. Together they climbed the 4811 meters high Mount Sabalan in north-west iran to set up a slackline leading across the glacier lake. They even slept in tents in the crater of the old volcano. Four of the team (incl. Alexander) could successfully cross the 68 meters long webbing without falling and thus set a new world record for the highest elevated slackline walk above waters.
But even the ones that did not manage this feat gained from that by having a good training for the teams' next project on Mount Damavand which is the countrys highest peak and Asia's highest volcano with an elevation of 5600 masl. They want to rig a 100 meters long so called "highline" there which is a slackline more than 10m up in the air. This is very close to the current altitude slackline record which was set at 5700 masl.

Alexander's statement about the project:
Besides being good for records, it gets more & more clear to me that vulcanoes are the coolest places to slackline... I definetly enjoyed those intense two days that we spent at this one.
My backpack weighted 28kg when we started our hike at 3500m and I managed to get it all the way up there. This fact & the energy that I had when running around on the top with no acclimatisation besides a night at 3500m makes me feel ready for our next project:
A 100m long highline at the highest peak of Iran (Mt. Damavand, 5600 MASL). However I know that it will be still way harder because 1500 meters more make a huge difference in such an altitude!
