Footage of cold lava gushing through river banks in Bali following the eruption of Mount Agung volcano.

The video, captured today by photographer Elaine Borges-Ibanez in the Indonesian island, shows water filled with volcanic debris flowing through a river valley as locals observe from a bridge.

''[The event] has excited a lot of interest now for two whole days but there is no telling how long it will continue for,'' Elaine later wrote online.

''Everyone stops if driving or walking past this key bridge on the road to Denpasar simply because it is an extraordinary event that hasn't been seen before in living memory,'' she added.

According to reports, 100,000 people living near the deadly volcano have been forced to evacuate.

Thousands of tourists are stranded on the island as Bali's airport remains closed.

Mount Agung last major eruption in 1963 killed about 1,100 people.
