A man surprised his girlfriend against the backdrop of one of Canada's most beautiful settings, Mount Hope in British Columbia.

On March 17, Richard Boucher got down on one knee after presenting his bride to be with a golden rose on a snowy mountaintop.

In the video, the couple are in a helicopter en route to their romantic spot. They then get out, which is where Boucher makes his grand gesture.

Boucher said: "I always wanted to ask Danelle to marry me at the top of a mountain while snowboarding. It was our thing, our date nights and our passion. Unfortunately, I was injured in the Canadian Forces and can no longer snowboard so this was my way of making my vision happen.

"We are aiming to have a destination wedding in the next year or two so that we can have our friends and family from all around Canada and the world join us on our wedding day!"

I made this video as another piece to celebrate and remember our perfect engagement weekend. My fiance and I Danelle have been friends for over ten years and have been in a loving relationship for 6. She was my bank teller in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada and we both coincidently moved to Vancouver BC shortly after meeting. We now have a beautiful 10 month old daughter named Isla and a big goofy dog named Atlas.

I began this whole thing by sending Danelle a love letter a week starting on Valentine's day vaguely describing our plans for the day but leaving a lot of it a surprise.
We are at the top of Hope Mountain in Hope, British Columbia, Canada.
We were flown by Valley Helicopters.
The ring was created by Michellia Designs.
We stayed at the Lodge on Harrison Lake.
Dinner and dancing at the Copper Room on Harrison Lake.
We are aiming to have a destination wedding in the next year or two so that we can have our friends and family from all around Canada and the world join us on our wedding day!
