This is the moment water drenches the stairwell of a student accommodation in Leeds.

Footage filmed on Tuesday (May 1) shows water leaking from the ceiling and drenching the floor of the Plaza student accommodation as an alarm sounds.

Students are seen fleeing the scene.

The incident reportedly occurred after a water pipe burst on the building's 8th floor.

Resident Aneeka Aftab, a student at Leeds Beckett university, told Newsflare: "We’ve had to wait 10 hours to get accommodation which is spread from Doncaster to Bradford.

"My flat is in Bradford. We’re unsure of how we will pay for our food as our hotel doesn’t serve food, so we can’t use the limit the Plaza apparently has given us.

"My exams are right around the corner and this has affected my concentration and study pattern hugely."
