First dust storm of the year rolls through Phoenix area
A dust storm battered parts of Phoenix, Arizona on July 5, marking the start of the monsoon season.
The National Weather Service issued a blowing dust advisory for parts of the area, and one major interstate highway was closed off in both directions due to poor visibility. Temperatures hit 46 degrees Celsius just before 5 pm, making it the hottest day of the year in Phoenix so far.
This video, filmed by Zack Cole Garcia near Cholla Elementary School in Casa Grande, located southeast of Phoenix, shows the dust storm encroaching.
