Much of British Columbia was under a poor air quality advisory on August 15 as wildfires continued to rage in the province.

Large sections of the province including Edmonton, Calgary and Airdrie registered 10 and higher on Alberta Health's air quality health index (AQHI), which analyzes health risk using a scale of one to 10.

The national weather agency said much of Alberta is experiencing worsened air quality and reduced visibility. The advisory covers the whole province, and is expected to last the rest of this week.

Much of the province was under the same advisory last week, though cooler weather and rain on the weekend brought some short-lived relief.
