Dozens of people were reportedly detained by police in Russia as protests continue against Vladimir Putin’s plans to raise the retirement age.

The footage, captured this morning (September 9), shows a group of riot police detaining protesters at a square in Yekaterinburg city.

The filmer writes: ''People stood peacefully and nothing illegal was done.

''We were surrounded and kept in a cordon for more than an hour

.

''After that policemen start releasing people and required to show our passports.

''About 20 people were detained.

''Some people were not protesting and they were detained by the police as well.''

The pension reform plan would see the retirement age rise from 55 to 60 for women and from 60 to 65 for men, with the changes expected to be in place by 2028.
