The morning after Lenin statue toppled in Kharkiv, Ukraine

A video has emerged from Kharkiv, Ukraine of the atmosphere in the central square on Monday after Nationalists toppled a statue of Lenin on Sunday night.

The footage, captured by Jijo Martin, a foreign medical student at Kharkiv National Medical University, shows a crowd of visitors gathering to see the fallen memorial.

Martin, who is from Kerala, India speaks in his native Malyalam:” "there was a statue of Lenin which stood high until yesterday, at night the crowd of pro-Ukrainians with the support of government officials took it down. There has been many attempts to take this statue down for a few months but due to the local unrest they did not succeed. But yesterday it was great victory for the pro-Ukrainians. Its a great victory, no violence so far, people are all so happy".
