Fire crews continue to battle a brush fire in southern California that has grown to more than 3,000 acres.

Footage captured today, September 23, shows firefighters from Los Padres Hotshots, US Department of Forestry, working to prevent the fire from reaching the town of Castaic.

The filmer writes: ''The goal of the operation was to prevent the fire from jumping the road later in the day.

''They used a combination of gasoline flame droppers and specialized pistols that fire flares for remote to reach areas of the canyon.''

Evacuation orders were issued for San Francisquito Canyon Road.

The reason of the fire remains under investigation.

Early Sunday morning, with little wind and the lowest humidities of the day- the Los Padres Hotshots, from the US Department of Forestry began firing operations in defense of Lake Hughes Road, Near Castaic, CA. The goal with the operation was to prevent the fire from jumping the road later in the day and threatening the main town of Castaic. They used a combination of gasoline flamedroppers and specialized pistols that fire flares for remote, hard (or too dangerous) to reach areas of the canyon.
