Welcome to London. What a day! What a turnout! - mayor of London Sadiq Khan opens his speech in Parliament Square during People's Vote march in London. Three quarters of a million people took part in this major anti-Brexit protest on Saturday, 20 October 2018. This is a historic moment, - he continues, a moment when people from all corners of our country of all walks of life come together to have their voices heard. It is inspiring to see so many young people here today leading the way. You know what - it is absolutely right young people leading this march as it is their future on the line. Young people's voices were not heard during the EU Referendum. But their voices are being heard loud and clear today, echoing all the way down to the doors of Downing Street.
This government is leading us towards a bad deal Brexit deal or even worse no deal at all.
These options are a million miles away from what we were promised.
The government is choosing party politics over the national interest. They don't have a mandate to gamble with our future.
It is time to take this vital issue out of the hands of politicians. It is time it was returned to the British people.
