Western Mexico is receiving its first dose of the highly intense Hurricane Willa as rainfall has increased and wind speed constantly picking up.

Shot by Canadian tourist Bryan Godfrey in Puerto Vallarta, the current of the local river, Rio Cuale, can be seen flowing at an increased speed today (October 23).

As well as this waves can be seen crashing onto the shore and the boardwalk

Godfrey said: "I was checking the surf at high tide because they were warning of 10m waves. The police and military have the area closed down but managed to get a little closer to see."

Godfrey later added: "It was powerful waves throwing big rocks along the boardwalk. I was trying to be as cautious as possible but I wasn't scared."
