Footage shows start of 20,000-acre Camp Fire in Paradise, California

A fast-moving blaze in Paradise, Butte County, scorched over 20,000 acres in less than 18 hours on Thursday, November 8.

Camp Fire was ignited at around 6:30 am and exploded to more than 18,000 acres in just the first eight hours, turning the daytime sky black. A hospital a Mormon church and a McDonald's were among the buildings that burned to the ground.

This video, filmed in Chico, shows the beginnings of the devastating fire. According to local officials, the blaze is being driven by strong winds and low humidity.

There were no official reports of damage at the time of writing, but media outlets report more than 1,000 homes burned and multiple fatalities.
