My house burnt down - the aftermath

Buy video

Last Monday David Spooner of Saint Maries, Idaho lost everything a house fire. However, he didn't react as you would expect. Instead he posted this heart felt video with an unexpected message while his house was still burning down.

David spent 7 years of his life living and working full time in Monterrey, Mexico at an orphanage and had often lived in extremely difficult circumstances during this time. He was forced to return to the US back in 2013 after badly injuring his back. He has had 2 surgeries since then and has been suffering chronic pain.

His message in the video is extremely sobering. His cousin has setup a gofundme campaigns to help David pay off his medical bills which doesn't even come close to covering the cost of his losses from the fire. His house was not insured at the time of the fire as he said he didn't have enough income to pay for insurance. He was renting the second floor of the house to a low income family to help them out. The family renting from David had renters insurance.

Fortunately, no one was home at the time. The fire investigation was not able to determine the cause of the fire. But they do know it started around the wood stove that the renters were using. The renters called David shortly after the fire was reported and told him that they had stoked the stove full of wood before they left the house earlier that morning.
