This is one of a series of footage clips taken before, during and after an unprecedented typhoon/storm in Halkidiki region of Greece. We were enjoying dinner at the Anaya restaurant of Ikos Oceania when first a lightning show, then winds hit within seconds glasses and plates were flying, then the full storm hit and chair covers etc went flying in a truly awesome display of power by the elements. The storm lifts up heavy glass window panels and gets underneath into the outside part of the restaurant with frightening strength. Staff and guests were terrified, hiding in the rest rooms and everyone was completely trapped in the restaurant which is on the edge of a steep incline facing the sea.
Guests did impromptu songs - a training opera singer and three girls did songs to keep spirits up.
Footage the next day shows snapped trees, uprooted fixtures and fittings, a snapped buoy with mussels grown on the bottom and huge clefts worn into the beach by torrential rain water. It was a crazy, crazy experience and the footage is awesome.
