An appeal has been launched to find a home for the oldest dog in care in Britain.

The 17-year-old Jack Russell Terrier called Tonks is the equivalent of over 100 human years.

Tonks lives at Dogs Trust Kenilworth in Warwickshire since being taken in off the streets and is the oldest at all of Dog Trust’s re-homing centres in the UK.

The charity says the elderly canine is still in fine fettle.

He needs a comfy home to put his paws up, so would suit someone looking for a sedate pet.

Kenilworth Dogs Trust, Manager Emma Healey said: "It's especially sad when older dogs come to us through no fault of their own.
