Congested roads around Ferrybridge as cooling tower is demolished

A cooling tower at Ferrybridge in West Yorkshire was demolished by controlled explosives on Sunday 28th July. 1000's of spectators from across Yorkshire turned up to view the historic event which caused congestion in the area as roads were closed off for safety. Traffic was diverted along the A162 between Ferrybridge & Brotherton with traffic coming to a standstill. The roads were reopened after the explosion and traffic returned to normal within an hour.
