A scooter rider was inches away from being hit by an out-of-control SUV in southwestern China.

The video, filmed in Qianxinan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Guizhou Province on November 4, shows an out-of-control SUV smashing into three vehicles and knocking down a tree on the side of a pavement.

It then slid forward for around ten metres and tipped over on the road.

A scooter rider luckily avoided being hit as the SUV flew past beside him.

The car driver named Pang took some medicine before driving to pick up his son and felt tired, he then pressed the accelerator instead of the brake by mistake.

As Pang was wearing a seat-belt, he was not injured.

监控显示，当天下午 4 点左右，一辆越野车飞速冲上了人行道，人行道上的行道树被拦腰撞断，在连撞三车之后又向前滑行了约 10 米，造成车身翻倒。
民警赶到现场后看到，人行道上有两辆摩托车被撞倒在地，一辆白色越野车右侧车头部分受损，现场一片狼藉，而肇事的越野车则四轮朝天仰翻在行车道上。
那么，越野车为什么会突然失控呢？肇事驾驶员说，他当天重感冒，在开车前，他曾吃了一点感冒药。
驾驶员 庞某：我平时开车并不快，当时就是有点感冒，吃了点药，上坡的时候踩的油门，下坡没有松油门，当时没有意识了。

据了解，庞某这几天严重感冒。当天去接孩子时，吃了感冒药没多久，身体较为疲惫，行驶到事发路段时，可能药物产生效果，导致意识模糊，错把油门当成刹车而引发了事故。

所幸事发当时人行道上并无行人经过，擦身而过的摩托车也没有任何刮擦。而驾驶员庞某系了安全带，并未造成受伤。
