This was the moment a festive motorcycle rider dressed as Santa Claus was spotted in Lexington, Nebraska allegedly running a red light on December 4.

It was speculated the costume-clad rider was busy waving at other road users and spreading the festive cheer to comply with traffic laws.

The filmer explained: "Santa Clause is riding his tricked out Harley Davidson sleigh and waving at cars waiting for the light.

"In the midst of Christmas cheer, he misses his green arrow to turn. Once the green light turns from oncoming traffic and cars start coming, Santa turns through the traffic to drop off some toys but also makes an illegal manoeuvre."
