Shocking moment hijab-wearing woman in Texas is sent home from Chicken Express for her attire

Stefanea Coleman, an employee for Chicken Express in Forth Worth, Texas, was sent home for wearing her hijab on December 30, 2019.

Her manager decided to send her home for refusing to take off her hijab, saying it is not the proper work uniform.

"I converted to Islam not too long ago and I started wearing my hijab," Stefanea said. "I went to work today and was kicked out because my hijab was not apart from the “ dress code” [apparently] and I wasn’t allowed to wear it."

Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits an employer from firing, refusing to hire, or disciplining a woman because of religious practices like the hijab.

Stefanea has not received any apologies from Chicken Express and is waiting for her lawyer to meet with them.
