Diane Abbott and other Labour MPs attended a protest campaigning for the UK government to stop a flight deporting 50 people to Jamaica.

The protest took place outside Downing Street on February 6 demanding the government to stop the deportation flight that is scheduled to leave on February 11.

Emotions ran high as protesters aired their views and later on blocked Whitehall off to traffic.

An emergency demonstration organised by Black Activists Rising Against Cuts (BARAC) and Lawyers for Justice (BAME) to halt the deportation of up to 50 people to Jamaica took place opposite Downing Street (6th January).

Labour MPs Dianne Abbott, Bell Ribeiro-Addy and Claudia Webbe addressed the crowd on the "hostile environment" and racist agenda of the current government.

The chartered deportation flight booked by the Home Office leaving the UK is scheduled to fly on Tuesday 11th February.

Individuals expected to be on this flight have lived most of their lives in the UK arriving as minors with some having dependant children they will become separated from should they be deported. Supporters say criminality is used to justify their removal to a country where they have no ties and no deportation flights should take place until the government releases the Windrush Learned Review. At the time of writing a draft copy was leaked to MP David Lammy.
