The Community of Madrid has received, until April 15, 63,704 Temporary Employment Regulation Files that affect a total of 421,734 workers, according to data provided by the Ministry of Economy.
A "very high" percentage of them correspond to small companies that have an average of between 1 and 10 workers and the vast majority processed have been due to force majeure, "although those based on economic and / or productive causes continue to increase." The sectors most affected are the hotel, non-essential trade, land transport or sale and repair of vehicles.
From the Ministry emphasize that in recent days the number of ERTE presented "has stabilized and the daily processing of the same has allowed to detect some errors such as the submission of duplicate files", which explains the adjustment of the figures regarding the from last week.
The regional government, as the labor authority of the Community of Madrid, manages the confirmation or not of force majeure of the ERTES presented by companies with activity in its territory, an independent procedure and parallel to the management of unemployment benefits corresponding to affected workers and that it is the exclusive competence of the State through SEPE.
Thus, the companies that transmit to the regional authorities the request for an ERTE must at the same time communicate to the SEPE the list of the affected workers so that it can proceed and process the corresponding unemployment benefits.
