Videos by Jessica Sternal. I was part of the peaceful protest standing near the bridge on Sunday, May 31 when the semi truck came and attempted to hit protesters. We allowed emergency vehicles to drive through and then a group of us stood and peacefully chanted and then had tear gas thrown at us. Protesters gathered again and linked arms only to have them throw more tear gas. Not sure what laws we were breaking that allowed tear gas to be thrown at us, was not past curfew and no one was threatening law enforcement. I will say that everyone really came together to help one another, pouring milk on people’s eyes and offering medical supplies, making sure everyone knew where to get help and where a safe place to spend the night was. I’m home safe now but that day really opened my eyes to what’s happening out there.
