This was a video taken at the temporary memorial outside of the Walmart after the El Paso shooting took place. So many people were paying respect the victims of the shooting and their families. So many flowers, crosses, posters, and balloons. People were praying and singing, crying and hugging. It took me so much courage to get myself to go to the site because August 3rd was truly a traumatizing day. You could ask anyone in El Paso and they would tell you that that was something that could never happen in their community. It was so hard to believe that someone would drive 9+ hours for one sole purpose: to kill because of hatred and white supremacy. As a community we must continue to fight for justice and work toward gun reform and prosecuting racism and hate crimes against Latinos in order to bring justice to the lives lost and their families.
