Lebanese and Belarusians protest side-by-side In London to protest against their governments
Hundreds of protestors picket opposite 10 Downing Street. Unfortunately, both groups of protestors were side-by-side at the same venue which was quite awkward for both groups, but nevertheless, was a friendly and passionate atmosphere
The Lebanese protest I asked one of the protestors, 'Armin' why he was here, he replied, "to protest against the Lebanese government who are corrupt and try to hide what happened concerning the huge explosion that happened recently".
The Belarusians protestors were the much larger group were also protesting opposite 10 Downing Street, before making their way to the foreign office at Whitehall, London in support and in solidarity with the people of Belarus. It came after recent anti-government demonstrations and riots in Belarus which have taken place after the long time president of Belarus, Aleksandr G. Lukashenko, claimed 80 percent of the vote in what many have said was a "sham election". This is the video of them when they made their way to the Foreign office. https://www.newsflare.com/video/373551/hundreds-protest-outside-londons-foreign-office-in-solidarity-with-the-people-of-belarus
Many Belarusians have accused the police of brutality. Stun grenades and rubber bullets have been fired on protestors as police try to disrupt and disperse protestors.
The Belarus event in London was hosted by NADZEYA. Her Facebook page says, "For the Belarusian diaspora community events in the United Kingdom"
The Belarusians objectives were detailed on their Facebook page as follows: 'to picket in Solidarity with the right of Belarus People to decide their future. Get supportive actions from UK Government to reduce climate of fear and violence in Belarus and demand a new round of elections or a valid vote re-count'.
