This was the moment a famous landmark in Santa Fe, New Mexico, was toppled by protesters during demonstrations on Indigenous People’s Day on Monday (October 12).

The clip shows the end of the obelisk being pulled down during the demonstration before police arrived and arrested two people.

Cole who was at the demonstrations told Newsflare: "Filmed in the homelands of the Tesuque and other Tewa Pueblo peoples in occupied Ogha Po’oghe, so-called 'Santa Fe, New Mexico'. This is the last section of the historic obelisk torn down by Indigenous activists on Indigenous People’s Day, 2020.

"Mayor Alan Webber of Santa Fe promised to bring down the monument in early June, but since reneged on that promise," he continued.
