Protesters rallied in São Paulo, Brazil on Thursday (November 5) calling for justice for influencer Mariana Ferrer, who has accused businessman Andre Aranha of drugging and raping her.

Footage of the trial published by The Intercept shows Aranha's defense lawyer Gaston da Rosa Filho questioning Mariana Ferrer's accusations, leaving her in tears.

The footage has caused outrage across the country.

The National Justice Council (CNJ) announced an investigation into Judge Rudson Marcos, who presided over the hearing.

Mariana Ferrer accused a businessman of having raped her during a party. She ended up being humiliated during the trial.
Mariana Ferrer, a 23-year-old Brazilian influencer, accused businessman André de Camargo Aranha of having raped her during a party in Florianópolis in 2018. He ended up seeing the Brazilian Public Ministry consider that Aranha had no way of knowing that Ferrer was in no condition to consent to the sexual act and, therefore, had no intention of violating it. Judge Rudson Marcos accepted the explanation, unprecedented in the Brazilian courts, and Aranha was cleared for lack of evidence in September 2020.
