Residents waded through chest-deep floods to escape their submerged homes and reach higher ground as Typhoon Vamco hit Camarines Sur, Philippines on November 11.

The three villagers, who lived on the other side of the overflowed river, struggled to reach the riverbanks with the strong winds and currents.

They will be staying at the local evacuation centre until the weather condition is better along with their neighbours.

The weather state bureau said Typhoon Vamco, also known as Ulysses, will bring destructive winds and torrential rainfall to the Philippines where thousands have been evacuated.

It is expected to leave on Friday (November 13) before heading to the central region of Vietnam.

The storm comes just days after Typhoon Goni killed 74 people and destroyed thousands of homes in the Philippines on November 1.
