Dead Humpback Whale removed from Beach in South Africa
This Humpback whale was found dead in Mossel Bay, South Africa. Scientists were on hand to collect important samples from the animal that will contribute to key knowledge on population health. Cause of death was unknown for this individual but was one of 4 humpback whales that washed up on the beach that year. Video shows the removal of the animal to be taken to an approved landfill site. Unfortunately due to the high level of human activity in the area the carcass could not be buried, left alone or towed back out to sea.
