The first phase of Covid-19 vaccination drive began in India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the vaccination drive nationally through video conferencing.

The frontline warriors like doctors, nurses and sanitation workers are the first in line to receive the vaccination against the deadly COVID-19.

The vaccine will later be rolled out to the citizens in a phased manner where the recipients are supposed to register themselves for the vaccine on a govt. app called CoWIn.

The app is currently available to register for essential workers and frontline warriors only and will later be available for the citizens to download from the app stores in India.

Two vaccines are being administered out of which one is India's own produced COVAXIN by the Bharat Biotech.

The other is by the name COVISHIELD developed by the Serum Institute Of India , Pune.

India is a large scale and a leading vaccine manufacturer in India.

The video shows a health worker being vaccinated by the SII's developed vaccine 'Covishield' at the BBMP Referral Hospital in Bangalore, Karnataka.


According to the Health Department, Covishield will be administered in 237 centres in Karnataka.
