Thief nicknamed 'Qie Guevara' becomes boss after electric vehicle company gives him shares
A bike thief, nicknamed "Qie Guevara", became a boss after an electric vehicle company gave shares to him southern China.
In the video, shot in the city of Nanning in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on December 25, 2020, the notorious bike thief named Zhou Liqi had a press conference as the co-founder and Chief Brand Officer of an electric vehicle technology company.
Zhou owns 15% of Guangxi Feilv Electric Vehicle Technology Company's shares, becoming the company's second largest shareholder.
He will be responsible for spreading brand value, building brand image and recruiting partners.
According to reports, Zhou Liqi spent four years in prison for stealing electric bikes.
An interrogation video of Zhou went viral in 2016 and has since drawn more than 270 million views. In the video, Zhou said it was impossible for him to work for anyone.
Zhou said: “I have my hands and feet, but I won’t do labour or do business. In my entire life I’ll never do it.”
What Zhou said gained him an enormous following and appraisal as especially young people found truth in Zhou’s harsh judgement of society.
Zhou was also offered up to 3 million yuan (£340,000) to become a live streamer after he was released from prison but he refused it. As he said he would not work for anyone.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
