Flock of ducks form queue behind ice-breaking swans during Scotland cold snap
On Castle Semple Loch in Renfrewshire Scotland families often feed the swans and ducks. The extremely cold weather we've been experiencing has led to the loch freezing over and two days ago there was a thin sheet of ice on the loch surface. A thin ribbon of open water was alongside the path but a sheet of ice separated this from the open water where the birds were swimming preventing them from getting to the food. One big swan decided to take charge and thrust his way through the ice creating a passage for a whole flock of ducks and some swans to follows along in single file to get to the food. Another swan saw this and made its own passage through the ice.
