A woman who attended the vigil for Sarah Everard at Clapham Common in south London on Saturday (March 13) was arrested and held against a tree amid screams from onlookers.

Onlookers shouted "shame!" and "murderers!" at Metropolitan Police officers as the woman was taken away.

Hundreds had gathered to leave tributes despite COVID-19 concerns.

Hundreds gathered at Clapham Common this evening (March 13) where a vigil took place for Sarah Everard, who was kidnapped and murdered on her way home from the area.

The planned vigil organised by Reclaim These Streets was initially backed by Lambeth Council and the Metropolitan Police, but the latter reversed their decision.

Police initially encouraged people to go home and quickly moved in to arrest those in attendance when officers decided the vigil had turned into a protest.
