The 50x20 metre tyre fire rages on a waste storage site near the A1245 Fairglen interchange at Rayleigh and the Carpenters Arms roundabout. It has caused disruption to local roads and train services, including those running into London Liverpool Street, today.

The fire began burning on Monday evening and continues today, with firefighters calling it "a protracted incident".

Transport closures and delays continue with smoke visible thorough surrounding Southend, Rayleigh and Wickford areas.

Local police have advised people to avoid the vicinity and that transport could be affected for most of the day, including closures between the A127 and the A130.
