'Recorded on July 17, 2018, this video shows a commonplace scam on motorways in Spain.

This footage was filmed from Stephen Whitby's car's dashcam after he had to pull over due to a puncture. He then sees a dark blue rental car pulling up with one man getting out to distract him. The man almost looks like a policeman in navy blue clothes and a yellow reflective jacket.

And as the first man succeeds in getting the attention of the filmer, his accomplice creeps out of the back door of the rental and steals what he can.

Stephen said: "So, I stopped at a service station for lunch on the A2 Autopista (motorway) at Pina de Ebro. While I was away from the car, the rear right-side tire was pierced with a knife in two places. Within a few minutes of driving the car, I had to stop to change the wheel. "

He added: "Then comes this Peugeot car and a policeman-looking fella gets out. He was very officious and told me about the dangers of stopping on a motorway. During this conversation, we went to the rear of the car, and thankfully, the guy went away after 2 minutes."

"However, I didn't realize that while I was distracted, an accomplice of the first guy had crept out of the back door of the Peugeot and stolen what he could."
