In El Salvador, civil society organizations pronounce against the dismissal of magistrates from the Supreme Court of Justice
Hundreds of people from civil society organizations have gathered this Sunday around the monument to the Constitution, to protest against the dismissal of the magistrates of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice, approved on 1 May by the majority of deputies of the new Legislative Assembly. It is the first action taken by the new congress, just hours after taking office, the parliamentarians accepted with 64 votes in favor, 19 against and one absent, to dismiss the magistrates and the Attorney General of the Republic. The qualified majority of deputies belong to the New Ideas party, related to the president of the republic, Nayib Bukele.
