Tokyo 2020 head not ruling out last-minute cancellation of the Olympics
Toshiro Muto, Tokyo 2020 CEO, has not ruled out a last-minute cancellation of the Olympic Games.
In a conference on Tuesday (July 20), Muto said: "We can't predict what will happen with the number of coronavirus cases. So we will continue discussions if there is a spike in cases."
Japan earlier this month declared a state of emergency in the host city, banning spectators from attending events.
The country's Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga announced the state of emergency on July 8 in a bid to combat rising COVID-19 cases.
Footage from July 7 shows Tokyo's National Stadium as the city prepares to host the games.
