UNRWA Commissioner General kicks starts the “Keeping Kids Cool” summer activities in Gaza! Recreational summer activities will run in 68 locations at UNRWA schools across the Gaza Strip. These summertime activities come after the recent intensive military escalations on the Gaza Strip.
The activities aim to enhance the physical and psychological wellbeing of children, primarily by taking them back to a familiar and friendly environment. UNRWA educators and social workers are present to help the children overcome the violence they witnessed during the conflict and the ensuing trauma.
Most of these children and their families have been heavily affected by 14 years of blockade, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic since early 2020, as well as widespread poverty and lack of recreational opportunities at safe play areas.
