Police and private security companies battled to disperse protesters from Sunday afternoon when the protest action, themed #FreeJacobZuma and #KZNShutdown on social media, saw violence erupting across the province. It has since spread to Gauteng. Former South African president Jacob Zuma supporters threatened to converge at the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg where his application to set aside the court’s judgment against him was heard on Monday.
