A motorist arriving at a hospital appointment narrowly avoided colliding with a reckless pensioner who was driving his mobility scooter in the wrong direction up a one-way single lane road in the grounds of King’s Oak private hospital (part of the larger Chase Farm NHS hospital in Enfield, Middlesex). Martin Mitchell was arriving at the hospital for an appointment with a consultant when the 80 something-year-old pensioner appeared abrubtly driving in the opposite direction to the one-way lane in the hospital grounds.

“I came around the corner, this bloke appears out of nowhere, I have to brake sharply to avoid him. He was aware of what he did, though does not care. He does not stop, just carries on, when I got out and challenged him, he and said he needs to be careful, he just said; “stop bothering me” and was very rude,” Mr Mitchell said.
