Brazil: Cleaning and restoration of the image of Marielle Franco In Sao Paulo
This footage was filmed and produced 29 July 2021.
Monuments in honor of leftist symbols dawned on this Friday (30). Escadão Marielle Franco is graffiti, but activities linked to the left movements in Brazil are doing the restoration this Saturday. Marielle Franco was a PSOL councilor in Rio de Janeiro who was murdered in 2018.
Interview:
Sato, "Free Journalists":
"Message to Marielle Franco and has already been redone six times, so this symbolic gerra has actually been around for some time, and it was resumed after the burning of Borba Gato, which is a monument that honors a murderer, a rapist, explorer of indigenous people and the black population. Marielle is a fighter for civil and human rights, and the agent has always found it necessary to have this mural as a symbol of this resistance. So as this has happened a few times before, we actually communicated so it wouldn't be disputed, whether it was the neo-nazis or neo-fascists or post-fascists whoever, partisan or not. The bid is for us to come here and bring Marielle's image again, so yesterday we agreed to this one to redo and restore what is a monument that is historic, symbolic for this fight for human rights. So it's a restoration and it's good to always have that smile he has (pause) and just to say that you can come here and vandalize that we're going to remake it, and this symbol will always be here in the city for everyone to understand that the fight is still there. it's in the beginning and we need to get out and get our ass off the couch and be on the street to face this symbolic dispute, this semiotic dispute and this dispute on the streets and for the public space and for the rights that we need to defend, that's it!"
