Adorable moment dog gives crying newborn his toy to play with – breaking hearts on the internet with sweet gesture
A dog has given a crying newborn his toy to play with in an adorable video – and Facebook users are gushing over the Doberman's loving gesture.
Nick Elliott, 32, works as a lorry driver while his wife, Hayley, 31, is a stay-at-home mum, looking after their one-month-old daughter Macie and two-year-old dog, Tommy in Crawley, West Sussex.
On 26 July, Macie was crying for her bottle so Hayley went to the kitchen to prepare some baby formula.
However, while the mum was prepping the meal, Tommy decided to take matters into his own hands and comfort Macie, in the sweetest way possible.
The couple’s baby monitor captured footage of the dog grabbing a toy in his mouth and placing it inside Macie’s stroller in the hopes of soothing the crying baby.
The video was later shared to Twitter, where it has left users sobbing – racking up over 216,400 views and 15,600 likes.
“Bless him, did he wipe off the Dobe slobber? Seriously though fantastic to see, lots of love there,” one user wrote. [sic]
“That’s so sweet they are very sweet,” another user added.
“Bless him and a friend, come protector for life,” a third person said. [sic]
"We don’t deserve them, they are a gift who bless us with their love and intelligence and compassion," one Twitter user wrote.
"Omg. So beautiful. Almost brings a tear to my eye. If only all humans were that kind," another Twitter user said.
“Tommy regularly wanders past and checks on Macie in her cot, each time, gives a little tail wag if she’s ok!,” Nick told Jam Press.
“This time in the video, Macie was actually crying for her bottle, so my wife Hayley went to the kitchen to make the bottle with the bottle maker which only takes a minute.
“During this time, Tommy comes over to her to try and comfort her by giving her one of his toy teddies!
“We looked back on the camera after Hayley discovered it in with her and that's when we saw what he had done.
“His little tail wagging just made it!
"There is not a nasty bone in this boy's body and it's such a shame many people think they are a fierce and aggressive breed because, in reality, they are one of the biggest, soppiest, loving and clever breeds in my opinion.
“It's still obviously early days yet but I'm sure there will be many more beautiful photos and videos of them both in years to come!”
