Forest fires in Turkey still continue. Government interventions are insufficient to put out the fires. In particular, the lack of sufficient aircraft is one of the most criticized issues. The government does not allocate a sufficient amount of budget for the protection of nature. The budget is mostly devoted to less important matters. Environment, nature and ecology organizations in Istanbul carried out a protest action in Kadıköy. “Turkey is on fire, you are not manage it. Do not watch the fires, intervene.” The activists called for the government to resign.

The following slogans were chanted:
0.00 – 0.11 “Budget for nature, not palace”
1.30 – 1.40 “There is no salvation alone, either all together or none of us”

Speaking at the action, Nevruz Tuğçe Özçelik said:

– They can stop fires, we know. But they prefer to watch as Turkey burns. The fact that the government does not allocate a budget to these fires has a great role in not putting out these fires. We want those who do not fulfill their responsibilities to be prosecuted. People are declaring mobilization all over Turkey and going to the fire zones. So where are you? If you can't put out these fires, if you can't protect the people, living life, nature, trees and soil in this country, what good will you do? They fueled the fires and fueled racism and massacres by saying, "These fires were started by the Kurds, the Afghans, the oppressed and poor of this country." You do not manage Turkey's fires. Resign and get out of your seats. If you don't get off, these people know how to get you off that seat for themselves, their nature and their living spaces. The climate crisis is at the world's doorstep. The planet is getting warmer with each passing day. So, what are the governments doing in the face of this? More concrete, more concrete, more concrete. You are sitting in those seats to stop the fires in this country, to protect these people and to protect living things.

Do you plan to increase your aircraft and helicopter fleet?” Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Bekir Pakdemirli replied to me a year later. He said, “We have enough aircraft.” When the fires started today, he said, "We don't have airplanes in our inventory.". We will continue to burn as long as there is an understanding that makes hotels in places burn. We will continue to fight together.
