Ever tried to help with something but not really helped at all? Two clips show why, whether its cats or humans, good intentions aren't all you need.

In one, a kind-hearted Russian man attempts to rescue a cat from a roof in Veliky Novgorod, by climbing a plank propped up against a wall.

Unfortunately, the wobbly substitute for a ladder fell down and with it the man, straight through the wooden platform below and into a pool of stagnant water.

Luckily the platform broke his fall and he was laughing about the accident despite landing in what looked like a puddle of dirty water, on 3 May 2021.

It was cats turn to offer humans some kind but useless help in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on 30 June 2021.

The tabby shown in the video mimics a man building a wall, when it pats its paws down on the top of a brick the man has just laid.

After patting the cat in thanks, the builder moves it out of the way, politely getting on with his job.

Luckily the wooden platform appeared to have broken his fall and he was ok, though probably needed a helping hand to get out of the hole he'd fallen into.
